Vertical Storage Tanks
Horizontal Storage Tanks
Rectangular Storage Tanks
Horizontal Diked Tanks
Overview
UL-142 tanks are steel atmospheric tanks intended for aboveground storage of non-corrosive, stable, flammable, and combustible liquids. Maximum allowable working pressure is 0.5 psig as measured from top of tank.
Horizontal Configurations
Tanks can be furnished with stationary support saddles, anti roll supports or structural skids. Only new steel materials are used in tank constructions.
Each tank is sized with the appropriate normal and emergency vent openings as defined in the tank's standard of construction. Horizontal tanks may be single or double wall construction. If the tank is a double wall configuration, then it has interstitial monitoring capabilities. Tanks may also be built with or without multiple compartments for multiple fuel storage. Tanks are built to Underwriters Laboratories specification standard UL-142.
Vertical Configurations
Vertical tanks may be of single or double wall construction. If the tank is a double wall configuration, then it has interstitial monitoring capabilities. These tanks may also be built with or without multiple compartments for multiple fuel storage. Tanks generally have flat bottoms and conical roofs.
Special fabrication can incorporate dished tops, dished and coned bottoms all supported on skirts or legs. Only new materials are used in tank construction. Each tank is sized with the appropriate normal and emergency vent openings as defined in the tank's standard of construction. Tanks are built to Underwriters Laboratories specification standard UL-142. For special applications, such as products that have a larger specific gravity than water, Modern offers American Petroleum Institute, API, designed tanks in the API-620 or API-650 design configurations.
Rectangular Configurations
Rectangular tanks may be of single or double wall construction. If the tank is a double wall configuration, then it has interstitial monitoring capabilities. Modern is the only manufacturer in the world licensed to build a shop-fabricated UL-142 rectangular tank with a height greater than 103 inches up to 168 inches and infinite length.
Diked Tanks
Diked containments can either be open top or closed top construction. Each tank is sized with the appropriate normal and emergency vent openings as defined in the tank's standard of construction.
The primary containment aboveground storage tank is housed within a rectangular steel dike which contains the product should a spill, tank leak or rupture occur. Tanks are built to Underwriters Laboratories specification standard UL-142.
